
You're invited to the St. Elizabeth Motherhouse in Allegany, NY to celebrate Black History Month on Sunday, February 23rd at 2pm!
St. Francis Springs Celebration Troupe (from North Carolina) will present, Thea Bowman - A Giant Difference Maker.
"I think the difference between me and some people is that I am content to do my little bit. Sometimes people think they must do big things in order to make change. But if each one would light a candle, we'd have a tremendous light." - Sister Thea Bowman.
The Image for this event is a portrait of Sister Thea Bowman, of the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, painted by Alexander Moore, was given as a gift to her friend, Donald Edwards. Sister Thea has been declared a Servant of God and is one of six Black Catholic candidates for canonization.
This event will include music, reflections, readings, and other "little bits." A light supper will be served following the program.
A freewill offering will be collected with donations going to The African American Center for Cultural Development.
