John Williams, Vietnam War — Our Veterans, Their Stories

John Williams, E4 U.S. Army, Vietnam War 1966-68

John Williams grew up in Allegany, N.Y. Three weeks before graduating on June 24, 1964, he was told to report to take his draft physical. After attending Alfred State College, he was ordered to report to Fort Dix in May of 1966. He was then sent to Fort Belvoir, Va., for engineering school, where he was trained for power generation. Upon graduation, he was attached to the 1st Signal group, 362 signal Company, where he serviced generators at 23 sites all across Vietnam.
